Garden Bloggers Bloom Day March, the Netherlands

In flower today in my garden are

white crocuses and the first forget-me-nots,
daffodils and the last of the white and purple cyclamen,
white hellebore and deep pink viola,

blue periwinkle and mini daffodils with orange trumpets,
the light blue flowers of the rosemary,

very unusual shaped, yellow mini daffodils,
purple wallflowers and ditto crocuses,

daisies,
lungwort with pink and blue flowers, tete a tete daffodils,
deep pink hellebore and march violet,
purple crocuses,

pink and white violets,

blue anemone blanda,

white Arabis caucasica and pink bergenia,
blue muscari and pink Arabis caucasica.

Gardening is about nothing if not sex and death. But in our culture, it has been denuded, denatured, deracinated; robbed of its very essence.

I am quite impressed with all that you have blooming! All your flowers look so fresh and inviting. Thanks for participating.

Interesting to notice the similarities at this time of year between Texas and the Netherlands: daffodils, grape hyacinths, pansies/violets, and rosemary. But I could never grow lungwort or hellebores here.

Your garden looks so richly green and the flowers have such deep jewelled colors. My garden seems wan and dry (although we finally got some rain this week and it is, for the moment, much improved).

How lovely, Yolanda Elizabet! You're growing all those classic spring plants that we love from looking at garden books.

That's a whole lot of flowers! My personal favorite there is, white hellebore and deep pink viola.

Oh, I'm impressed of all your lovely flowers. Here we only have crocus and galanthus in flower. Love your mini daffodil and helleborus. :)

You are a little further ahead than in my garden in Scotland. Very exciting though...lots to look forward to.

Wow, I had no idea that gardens in the Netherlands would be so green this time of year. We have a few flowers, but not really any fresh greenery yet.

Gorgeous, yolanda elizabet! Someday, I hope that my little hellebores grow up to be as lush and full as yours. :)

Wow! You have a lot blooming already. How lucky you are to have such a nice rosemary plant -- with flowers even!

Yolanda -- Thanks for the comment on my blog (I just went in to edit a misspelled word and somehow the comments are gone so I thought I'd post over here rather than replying to you directly there).

I'm envious of your lovely garden, with so much greenery and beautiful flowers. And I'm envious of your lovely photos. I'm still trying to master our digital camera, especially close-ups of flowers. Nice crisp images are eluding me these days.

Your garden looks so full and lush for this time of year. How cold does it get in the winter there?

Lovely!

Oh, your gardens and flowers look like an Eden already! I am absolutely loving those teeny daffodils! I've never seen any that small or shaped like that! What are they called? Are they species maybe, or can you buy the bulbs there?

This was just an inspiring post with picture after picture of lush greenery and color!

Es sieht wunderschön aus bei dir! Die Helleboren haben es mir in diesem Winter besonders angetan, aber jetzt ist ja bald Frühling!

Hi all,

Thanks for all the lovely comments. I was glad to see so many spring flowers in the gardens of those who've joined garden bloggers bloom day too. And for those of you in colder climates, spring will come so you'll have lots to look forward to.

Pam, winters in the Netherlands are relatively mild but we can have weeks of frost. This winter we had only a few days with temperatures around freezing point or slightly below.

But the spring display you saw in my garden is normal for this time of year in the Netherlands.

Thalia, I'm glad you like the cats. ;-)

Kylee, the dafs are a special variety,I'll have to look them up to see which one exactly.
