The Lighter Side of Topiary

Granted I do indulge in the odd topiary ball or two and even have a few cone shapes as well, but that is where I draw the line topiary-wise. Not everybody feels that this is where the topiary thing should stop as is evidenced by this
and this.
They have simply gone ape-doo-doo with topiary. Fun but totally OTT.

To make matters worse, not everybody is content to clip their box, yew and goodness knows what other leafy thing into odd shapes, sometimes very odd shapes, but actually feel that they just have to take it one step further:

Oh dear, and it gets worse, much, much worse.
There should be a law against that sort of thing, there really should and this kitty quite agrees with me, wouldn't you say?
Urinated off doesn't begin to describe its feelings, poor thing. But if you think it can't get much worse than this,  you must be living a very sheltered life coz look here.

I realise that after reading this post you'll never look at topiary quite the same way ever again.

Very funny post. Poor cat, but I think poodles actually like that stuff. Pretty sure the boxwood and yew don't.

I quite like fun topiary - if only to applaud the dedication of the person wielding the trimmer.
Not too keen when applied to dogs - and as to cats, the perpetrators should be dyed bright pink and made to walk naked through the streets!

Yes your right :o). Poor pussycat... well, I hope she has left some bloody traces at least on the guy who did this to her LOL.
Take care

I can't imagine having an entire garden full of OTT Topiaries or shaving my poor animal to look like these. Here in the States there are young men (mostly) that shave all sorts of art on their heads. Crazy.

Now I had an old yellow cat like the one in your photo. He had long haid and couldn't groom himself anymore, reach the extremities if you know what I mean. I had him clipped like a lion and he loved it. Everyday he sat in the sunshine and looked like a king even though he was little old man cat. I gave him back his dignity.
I appreciate your information! Good to know.

Hi YE, oh the poor kitties! That is unholy heck! I admire topiary, the dragon is cute, but haven't the staff to do that here at the Fairegarden. As for that final link, BLUSH!

Ooohhh wat erg, dat onderste poesje.
Het is net of hij/zij veel te grote laarsjes aan heeft.

Die buxus alla, maar met dieren moet je toch maar niet beginnen.

That final link didn't make me blush, it made me think there are a lot of people with way too much time on their hands who don't really understand what REALLY makes for a hot night.

I LOOOOOVE the dragon, want one right now. Most topiary, especially the cat and dog sort, leaves me cold though.

Hilarious my friend. I love the pet topiary art the best. My cats would kill me.

LOL! Although now I feel that my garden really needs a topiary giraffe.

Poor kittens! A friend in a very warm climate would trim her cat in this manner though so it is done for a reason (helps with matted hair also). I've never tried topiary but would like to place a few small ones here and there throughout the yard.

Too funny! Relating topiaries to kitties in this way! LOL!

I have to tell you we do have Simon shaved like that once a year and he LOVES it. He's probably glad to not have to lick that long, think fur for awhile. He bites us whenever we try to brush him in the places where he really needs it. His belly fur is super super fine and soft and is much more prone to matting. We try each day to keep things under control, but he HATES it.
When we have him shaved, he's more playful and more affectionate. Not sure why, but it's like he's a different cat! I don't like the look, but he doesn't have it for long.
