Get Your Spring Fix Here

At what o'clock is Spring? That's a question I ask myself as soon as the last leaf has fallen from the trees. Spring is my favourite time of the year as it's so full of promises of things to come. Whether those promises will be fulfilled remains to be seen, but often the promise of something good and the anticipation thereof is something to treasure in and of itself.
Spring is late this year; for a long time our gardens were, in sharp contrast to many a winter in decades before, covered with a thick blanket of snow. And quite a few of us (garden bloggers of the world) suffer from a surfeit of snow even now.
Courtesy of many a night of frost and freezingly cold days we've been experiencing lately, the ground is still frozen in the Bliss garden but it hasn't stopped that most magical of moments from appearing in the garden. The moment when from the unprepossessing brown earth suddenly a miracle of flowers erupts with utterly joyful abandon.
Although it's a miracle that has happened time and time again, it never fails to amaze me and fill my heart with utter Bliss. Is there anything more glorious and uplifting than this?
You'll have to be the sad possessor of a very cold heart indeed not to find joy in the utter sumptuousness that is Spring!

It is finally spring here too! I just have crocus in bloom right now, but they are a sight for sore, winter weary eyes!

Very well said, one really has to have a really cold heart to not to feel the magic of spring.
Almost everywhere the winters have been harsher than usual, and that makes the advent of spring even more magical.
Wishing you blissfully warm and happy days ahead.

Hi Yolanda
Lucky you! Here in Sweden we have about 80 cm snow. Not so much spring here I'm afraid.
Your Helleborus are real nice, I like.
*Do you now that we have change our adress on our blog?

Wow, we have the same flowers blooming at the same time! I think yours are usually ahead of mine. Just a few days of warm weather here was all that we needed for the snowdrops and crocuses to open up. Winter aconites don't like me though; I only have a couple survivors. The hellebores just lifted up their heads yesterday. Yay, spring!

Oh, that beautiful witchhazel. Gorgeous colour. I believe we're going to have a somewhat early Spring here in eastern Canada, if things continue as they've been. I'll take it! I think Spring has become, as I get older, my favourite season, too. I can hardly wait for those first balmy breezes that carry that delicate scent of change.

You had me with the title. I sure do need a spring fix. Snow, snow everywhere. Ugh. Enough already! And yet, mother nature is unmoved by my gripe, and it is still snowing.

Beautiful post! Flowers are always that much more special for me after a long winter. I have to wait at least a few more days before my snowdrops and crocuses open their blooms, but I can't wait.

It sure is good to see that your area is thawing out and spring is popping up. This winter will make us appreciate all that spring and summer has to give us no matter what our expectations are.

How absolutely wonderful Yolanda spring has finally arrived. We have been blessed with sun for a week now. Still a lot of snow but it is melting quickly now. Love your spring fix!
Have a great weekend my friend/ Tyra

Apparently, spring is at now o'clock! Thanks for sharing the photos. Here the snow has melted and it's been raining, so the soil smells like spring and a few bulbs are popping up foliage tips.

Still buried underneath snow, spring seems a ways away. The magical spring light though, reminds me that soon the garden will be visible again. Love the witch hazel blooms. Enjoy the weekend!!

Ongelooflijk veel kleur al in jouw tuin zeg! Vandeweek net bezig geweest met wegknippen van bruine prut en opruimen, dan is het weer spannend wat er onder vandaankomt!

Hier bloeien alleen een paar krokusjes...

I was so hoping that my baby witch hazel would bloom this year, but I fear she is too young still, being only two years old. I planted this baby bare root last year, and I am hoping to see blossoms next year. So I am enjoying the fix from your garden.

Spring is late over here too, although the snow drops are finished now. I now have tiny daffodils, and the crocuses are sulking in the cooler weather that set in this week after our days in the high 60s at the beginning of the week. When the sun comes out again, they'll be open again.

spring has got to be my favorite time of year, laregly because it is daffodil season and I am daffy for daffs.

Thank you for bringing spring now to us with your pictures!
Have a nice weekend, groetjes, Monika

Dare I say spring seems to be springing here in Nova Scotia as well? We're into the 8th day of sunshine in a row, I have snowdrops popping up, the snow tsunamis are receding, and I think we're going to make it through! Hurray for spring and spring bulbs!

Sweeeeeeeet signs of spring in your corner of the world, Yolanda.

Ah yes, we all need our spring fix. We've been garden-deprived for far too long! Spring seems to be springing early here in upstate NY, with Old Man Winter trying hard not to be repressed, but Mr. Sun won out today and gave us a glorious day, and several spring-like days last week.
What a beautiful mix of plants in that first photo. I love the Hellebores and Witchhazel too. Spring delights, indeed :)
Thanks for the tips on spamming on old posts. I've had a lot of that lately and it's been driving me batty having to delete all those comments...the same type that Mr. McGregor's Daughter mentioned.
Happy spring Yolander Elizabet!

The daffodils are nearly out, and I've seen a bumblebee and ladybird this week so it must be spring! Flighty xx

I can almost smell that witch hazel! I never knew what it smelled like before this spring, when I bent down to take a whiff of my native one. Almost honeysuckle-like. Yum!

We're having what I think is an early spring here. I hope so. It's about time we had one of those!
