On the Compost Heap

That's where Jeeves is right now. Literally!
He's another victim of the Credit Crunch. I'd found a new owner for him and he was supposed to go to his new home last January. Unfortunately his new owners were unable to sell their old house and they had already bought their new one. Not of the good. Since then we've been waiting for them to sell their old house so that Jeeves can move in with them into their new home.
I must admit that the longer it takes, the more difficult it will become for me to say goodbye to him when Jeeves is finally carted off to his new home.
He's such a sweet boy and often makes me laugh with his silly antics.
He's also pretty good at making it impossible for me to ignore him. ;-) I won't be the only one who will miss him deeply once he's gone.
Jeeves is Tara's friend and they often play together in the garden,
something that they both enjoy very much. Jeeves also frequently accompanies Tara and me when we're going for walkies. Sometimes he will just follow us around, sometimes he will suddenly dart out of a neighbourhood garden, give Tara a swipe with his paw and then run hell for leather into the bushes, leaving a very frustrated Tara behind. It's so funny seeing them play tag but unfortunately for Tara she is always it.
Stray cat Macavity wounded. Again!

Last February I've had had Jeeves neutered as I didn't want to happen to him that which happens with sickening regularity to poor Macavity who's still unneutered. Last March I had to lance an enormous abscess on Macavity's forehead, it was so large that he couldn't even open his right eye. I'm happy to say it all went well and he's much better now.
Another one who will be missing Jeeves is his newest friend little Miss Muffet, another stray kittycat that recently found the Bliss garden. :-( Like Jeeves, who turned up last August, little Miss Muffet is also thin as a rake and I think she's about 5 to 6 months old.
A very sweet little thing she is and pretty as a picture. Last week my neighbour asked me if little Miss Muffet was mine as she has the same big, bushy tail as
Vita

my Maine Coons Vita and Dolly Daisy. I informed her that my kittycats are all indoor cats and only allowed to walk around our own garden when I'm there to keep an eye on them. It turned out that my neighbour was very much taken with Miss Muffet so I asked her to consider providing this sweet little kitten with a good loving home.
Dolly Daisy in the potager

She's thinking about it, so keep all your fingers and toesies crossed please, because sweet as she is I really don't want another kittycat to look after as I have quite enough of them (10) already.

BTW the new header is a pic of part of my front garden that I took yesterday.

Hi YE, what beautiful creatures, and Jeeves is indeed a heart warmer. And smart too, the compost must make a fine bed. Miss Muffet is so pretty, my thoughts are working their way to your neighbor to adopt her. There is a new stray here that i am calling Macavity also. Black back and white face, neck and tummy with long hair. He is very distinctive looking if a little disheveled. He may belong to a neighbor, as they do not keep their cats inside but do leave food on their front porch. I think my own Kitty sneaks over there for a snack when he gets out.

YE your front garden looks so inviting with that white bench calling out to come sit a spell.

Miss Muffet is gorgeous. I do hope your neighbor gives her a home. I know I would if I was nearby. I have always wanted a Maine Coon Cat.

Jeeves is a handsome dude. I think it is funny that he gets on the compost heap to stay warm.

It's wonderful to see how you take care of the strays that come your way - animal shelters only see some of the animals that need help in this world. Kind people like you do the rest, often unheralded. So thank you!

Well, Jeeves is smart--the compost heap is probably a little warm or at least hidden and secret! I hope Jeeves' new home is as nice as his current one! Neutering is always good; cats reproduce exponentially and there just aren't enough homes for all those cats.

Oh YE, I do hope things work out for Jeeves and Miss Muffet. You have a lovely and entertaining group of cats, but 10 is a lot! And we want other people to enjoy the love and joy of having cats in their lives. My aunt and uncle are already getting very attached to Minou.

Miss Muffet looks a lot like my cat Reggie that I had to have put to sleep when we moved. It sickened me, but we couldn't find a new home for her. I hope your neighbor decides she needs a new friend. Cats are such wonderful companions.

Sounds like Chiot's Run. It seems cat lovers get a reputation in the local cat community and when one doesn't have a home they show up there. In November we had a cutie show up here. He's now an indoor cutie and is loving life as a domesticated man.

While I liked this post, the girl complained that it was too heavy on the cats, not enough photos of the puppy. It will be hard for you to say goodbye to Jeeves, he's quite a character. I'll miss seeing photos of him in your garden. The header photo is great!

He is quite the handsome man/cat! The garden looks beautiful as always. Isn't spring satisfying?

The new header is beautiful...I have this sentimental attachment to mine even though it would be fun to change it seasonally. I love Jeeves and if he gets to stay with Tara...I will be able to see him, too! Ye, you are a kind person. Where you a dog or cat in your most recent past life! gail

Isn't it funny how kitties know where they will be welcome. Your stray puss cats are indeed very pretty!
I never used to like black and white cats but since we have had Jake I look at them very differently now!
I hope Miss Muffet gets a new home next door!
I wonder why you have not had Macavity neutered??

Tara will be sad to see Jeeves go ~ I hope she has some more time with him. Hope springs eternal for dogs that just one time, the cat will be it. They don't ever seem to want to give up. Vita looks regal as always.

I like your new header, Yolanda. The tulips are so beautiful and have a virginal quality :)

I also enjoy your kitty posts :) Jeeves is a handsome boy. I hope for the best for him :)

We have aquired a new stray female cat..a large black one who left her owner and comes to feed in the barn with Cookie and Taz...though, I fear she is the one who almost took out Taz's eye a few months ago. He can still see through it, and continues to catch mice and voles, but it's a bit 'filmy' looking :)

Tara looks fantastic! It's great to see the dog get on so well with the kitties. Poor Macavity! He's such a handsome boy :)

I do like that header image with the matching seat and tulips.
Jeeves in the wheelbarrow makes me smile.
Thanks for a lovely entry and photos.
Happy gardening! xx

Proof indeed that you are an excellent composter, as things must be going well to produce the lovely heat.

I hope your furry wards get the wonderful homes they deserve soon.

That garden spot looks very inviting in your header, Yolanda.

What beauties are Jeeves and Miss Muffet - they know which side their bread is buttered, as does a Siamese who's recently been visiting us, determined that we'll adopt him....we shall see.

Sounds as though it will be really tough to give away Jeeves. Your home and garden are truly a rescue place for cats. It would be difficult for me to give them away. They are all so beautiful. We have had a young male cat visit us - coming into the house and testing the cat nip. Have a nice week. Andrea

Ja wie bei uns, Yolanda - unsere eine Katze liegt immer unter dem abgedeckten Kompost!

Trust a cat to find the warmest, cosiest spot outdoors.
10 cats! - I suspect your own cats are spreading the word that your house has a sympathetic owner!

I was walking my terrierist last week when the neighbor's cat, a sleek black fellow known as Night, came running across the street. He tapped Annie on her back leg and then dashed back across the street. I thought at the time it was his attempt to initiate a game: your story of Jeeves' tagging Tara tells me it was. It was pretty funny to watch.

Jeeves looks like an absolute doll and wonderful garden companion. I know how hard it will be for him to move on to his new home when that happens. I really hope your neighbor takes Little Miss Muffet. She's a beauty! And I just have to say that I really love the garden path that Jeeves is "modeling" so nicely.

Wow, your spring is in full swing, judging by the header pic! Very pretty! I like how the kitties help out, you're very kind to provide for them all. I can only handle the two, I can't imagine 10! I hope you can find homes for the "extras".
