A Highland Fling

That's what I'm going to have as I'm going on a holiday to Scotland tomorrow. And it's not just any old holiday, oh no, I'm going on a garden tour with a dear friend to see lots and lots of Scottish gardens. Isn't that great? I'll have a lot to blog about when I return. What's that? You are curious to know what gardens I'm going to visit ? Well, for those of you who can't wait until my return and for my garden friend Shirl who asked me about it, here are some spoilers:

Biggar Park
Carnell Garden
Royal Botanical Garden Edinburgh
Portrack House
An Cala Garden Bide-A-Wee Cottage Garden
Drummond Castle Garden
Mount Stuart Garden
Mount Stuart Kitchen Garden
Arduaine Garden

I'll be gone for a week and the under-gardener will look after the Bliss team and the Bliss garden while I'm away. Please keep your fingers and toesies crossed for me that it won't rain the whole time. My teacher English went on a holiday to Scotland once and it rained for weeks. After 2 weeks of rain my teacher asked the hotel owner if it always rained in Scotland. Oh no, the owner said, sometimes it snows.

Cheerio!

It's the month of June,
The month of leaves and roses,
When pleasant sights salute the eyes,
And pleasant scents the noses.

Hi there Yolanda :-)

Have a wonderful holiday! If the weather keeps up as it has been here for the last few weeks it will be sun cream and a hat you will need and not an umbrella :-D

To give you an idea of my location I am roughly between Drummond Castle and Edin Botanics - not as the crow flies :-D

Drummond Castle is not a typical Scottish Garden but very impressive. My favourite at Edin Botanics is the Chinese Garden. Oh yes... the grey squirrels at the botanics love shortbread if you want to feed them :-D

I am really looking forward to your posts as I haven't visited the other gardens - I love the look of Portrack House! It is always nice to see another gardeners eyes on gardens you know too :-D

I am guessing you are on an organised tour but if you have free time to spend in Perth I could meet you and take you too a very special garden there too - one of my favourites. Email me :-D

Once again - have a great trip :-D

Enjoy Mount Stuart (I planted the vegetable garden there) and while you are on Bute don't forget to go the Ascog Fernery - it is magical.

Have a great time, YE! The one time I was in Scotland for a week in June, it never rained and the sun shone every day. It was glorious, and I hope you have the same.

It can't rain all the time as those pictures show sun! Have a great time and we will look forward to your future posts on these gardens.

Your overseas gardens put our American ones to shame, at least the ones I have visited! I hope you have a wonderful time and get to soak up some sun as well as the beautiful scenery.

Ooops, I turned green, an appropriate shade for a gardener. Double wow, have a lovely Scottish sojourn.
The photos you posted are great teasers, and I will check back upon your return.

Have a great time Yolanda....I love Scotland. Make sure you take some warm clothes, we went in June a few years ago and it snowed.

What beautiful photos! I'm just a bumbling amateur gardener, and we live in the desert (sigh) but I'm learning slowly but surely!
Our cats love to be in the garden and Jelly Bean (the youngest) has a passion for eating flower petals!

That sounds like a dream vacation to me. Scottish gardens! Scotland is one of my favourite places in the world, yet I haven't had the chance to visit half of the gardens you mentioned. I hope you'll have a memorable trip. I know so! Cheers!

Hi there dear Yolanda! The pics suggest that you are going to have a great great time.
The architecture of portrac house is stunning; it gives the impression of a Dolphin's nose.
May you be greeted by some bright sunny days ahead...waiting with bated breath for all the lovely pics and stories you would have had from the trip.

Glad you're so blissfully busy (and hopefully blissfully happy too, Yolanda. Isn't funny that though I've been essentially offline the past couple of months (as far as visiting blogs is concerned) we are in synchronicity with our blue poppy photos. The climate here is rather like Scotland, actually. Just not as much haggis!

Bon vacance on your next adventure...we'll wait to read about it here!
