The Feliary

Shortly after Vita's return (see previous post) we built the feliary. It's right next door to the conservatory so the cats can go into the feliary whenever they want. Which is often as they love it. And why shouldn't they, it's got all the mod cons any self respecting kittycat could hope for:
 the feliary is spacious,
has a fabulous view,
a great outdoor dining space,
loads of green stuff for munching and rolling in such as grasses and catnip,
gorgeous scents wafting through the air,

a grape arbour that thoughtfully provides shade and lots of amusing little green balls to pick and play with,
and all the running water, complete with the sound of gently trickling water, any thoroughly spoiled kittycat might need. Entertainment has also been kindly provided in the shape of one small dog in case the kittycats get bored.
Utter outdoor Bliss!

  1. I bet we could find you out there often too. What a wonderful place for your cats and one small dog to be able to roam.

  2. No wonder they love it, YE! I would love to have a space where Hazel could be outside, but safe from harm. The entertainment seems first class. :-) xxxooo

  3. Hi Yolanda,

That is a mighty fine place for your cats!

One word of warning however - lilies are extremely toxic to cats, even the pollen which can get onto their coats and they lick it off. So perhaps having lilies in a confined space like that with the cats is a bit risky.

  5. Vita obviously had been wanting a private, luxurious kitty spa for sometime and took desperate measures to communicate her desire. And nice to get a peek at the cats' view of your beautiful garden too.

  15. This is great, Yolanda. I keep saying we need to build something similar for our furfamily, but we need to do some other things here first. Maybe in the spring, after the walkways and the greenhouse reno and the upstairs room painting and....(our kitties are now jealous).

  22. I want to live in the feliary. I do. Did I mention I have a stray momma cat who has a lot of Russian blue in her? All but the beautiful blue eyes. She had three gray kittycats who looked just like her.I must get her spayed before she produces many, many more.

BTW, all the kitties live here in our giant feliary, the garden.

  23. How wonderful to have your feline friends safe but not confined inside, Yolanda!

I remember seeing something like this a few years ago at the home of our TV & radio garden guru Tom Spencer and thought it was a good idea. Then one of my sons built a screened porch so his cat can wander in and out...but this looks much grander!

  24. I know what it is like to lose a puss cat, but I to searched, never gave up and found. My neighbours cat went missing during the summer and they did not search so hard and sadly she has never been seen since, breaks my heart and she wasn't even my cat!!!
So glad your cats are all safe and well.
