An October Ode to Autumn

October, May of the descending days,
Mid-Spring of Autumn, on the shortening stair
Of the year's eld abiding still and fair,
A pause of peace, when all the world at gaze.

  1. An ode without words! and they are not needed really. With colors so beautiful....words,even when they come from Yolanda Elizabet's thinking brain, are dispensable.
    Best wishes

  5. You really caught the golden October in this walled garden where you took the pictures. And you did well to just let the photos speak....
Have a sunny, golden weekend in your garden!

  9. I feel like a woodland nymph in autumn dancing among the rich colors. Your pictures put my pixie legs to flight. I had to run outside to my own wonder of fall colors. I love this time of year. I celebrate my birthday the entire month of October. Love the pictures!

    Enjoy nature, enjoy life, Dorothy

  12. Such rich colours, and I'm still inspired by your basket arrangement--but no closer to doing one myself...it's not just the colours but the textures that is so appealing. Do the kitties try to 'help' design them with you?

  14. Just gorgeous! Is that pyracantha with the beautiful red berries? I've been wanting to find a place for one of those in my new yard. Hmmm... ~A :-)

    genietze nog even,
    groetjes, Marian

  16. I really liked that quote! And your pics are as great as always. Love the colours. We have extraordinary autumn colours this year. Do you? Btw the photo in my previous post wasn’t a new one. We haven’t had that much frost yet (must start translating my posts again). :) At the moment we have sunny but cold weather. I hope you have sun in Netherlands as well!? Have a nice weekend!

  17. There is indeed a lot to delight the senses in the fall. Color, scent, the very feel of the air can be so vibrant. Thanks for a glimpse of fall in the Netherlands.

  20. Beautiful Autumn sentiment and beautiful pictures depicting Autumn. The mushroom looks like someones fanciful imagination during autumn.

  23. I was thinking the same thing that many others have expressed. The toad stool reminds me of a fairy tail. It doesn't even look real. Wonderful sample of autumn glory.

  24. Lovely fall basket! and that last garden scene is really splendid.

  25. I love October too. Except the colder weather. When it drops into the 40's, I shiver.

  26. I love that last photo! Where is that? In your garden? I'm guessing not. It doesn't look like anything else I've ever seen you post from your garden.

  27. Your garden is a vision of autumn, Yolanda, and oh, that toadstool! I see faeries!

  28. Beautiful as always, YE. I love that basket arrangement... and don't you just love those pyracantha berries? Mine glow such a warm lovely orange.

  32. Hi Yolanda!
I have been out of the blogging loop for some time (that includes reading!!). Tonight, I've read a couple of my favorites (you, of course, being on the top of my list!). It makes me remember how inspired I was when reading and writing on a regular basis. We dug a big bed in the front yard this weekend and I have begun "decorating" as I "shop" in my backyard. I have to tell you a am a BIG grump as it starts to get dark early. I have so much to do. But I guess it's part of the life cycle of our gardens and I will have to cope!

  34. A very nice collage of what makes autumn a very colourful season.
And when the weather is mild, like it is at the moment, it's lovely to go out and enjoy yourself.

    Bye,

    Bert
